Palm Canyon Trail in Palm Springs Aka PCE ( Palm Canyon Epic or Palm Cactus Exposure) is a must ride, known all around the world. It’s an awesome adventure in the middle of the desert, with breathtaking landscapes and one of the longest continuous singletrack in California. Enjoy epic views all along and if you’re lucky you might see longhorn sheep or tortoises. PCE is 23 miles, 1200 ft of climbing, 5000 ft descending . You should be an intermediate rider and above prepared to be on the trail for 5-6 hours.
Trail Difficulty: Intermediate / Difficult
What to bring with you:
There is no water on the trail so you need to carry what you will need for the day along with food to fuel the body for an extended period of riding. This is a trail for cross country to enduro bikes, and fatbikes have extra fun. It is wise to run tubeless because every bush has thorns. Put fresh sealant in your tires and carry extra tubes as well. Aside from the regular tools and parts you usually carry, pack a spare derailleur hanger, a cable, express chain link. Bring a FRS radio.
What to wear:
Since every bush has thorns and they are all over the edge of the trail, we recommend long sleeves, knee and elbow pads to protect you in case of contact. Be ready for hot, cold or wet conditions. You will dress according to weather conditions at the trail head.
Note that this is not a guided tour.
